The Cause Of Acne

by admin on 2009/03/03

Most people find it difficult to believe that you can get acne at any age and not only as a teenager. In fact, it is really more common than you thought with 90% of the world's population suffering with acne in one form or another during their lifetime.

While the naturally occurring oil our bodies produce called sebum does, actually, clog our hair follicles, it is not the only substance to blame for the condition of acne and neither is oily skin as well.

Although it is possible that clogged pores that cause acne might be due to the hormone changes every young person encounters or even from cosmetic products that haven't been fully removed from the skin. Certainly there are alternative reasons that can add to the formation of acne including poor eating habits that most people have nowadays which is full of reprocessed, fast foods that are high in sugar content.

More persistent cases of acne will probably require stronger medication which has to be prescribed by a dermatologist. Having a dermatologist treat the condition is not such a bad idea as he or she can better track the effectiveness of the treatment prescribed. During this time in particular, it is necessary to make sure that fingernails are cleaned thoroughly and regularly as they keep dirt, germs and bacteria that can worsen the problem.

This means that fingernails have to be kept clean and not ignored simply because they appear clean as most bacteria and germs are invisible to the naked human eye. It is for this very reason that people who is afflicted from acne mustn't touch their acne with their bare hands.

The chances of perfect skin are almost zero and you are more likely to be afflicted from acne if your parents also had the condition. However, in most cases, the hormones that causes acne generally take place during teenage years.

If necessary, people suffering from acne should consult a dermatologist for best acne treatments. You can check out this squidoo lens on acne treatment reviews for additional advise.
